How to Get Your Skin Christmas-Ready: Your 8–12 Week Treatment Timeline
by Izzy Gannon on Oct 29, 2026
Christmas might still feel a little way off, but when it comes to your skin, October is the time to start planning.
If you want smoother, brighter, healthier-looking skin for Christmas parties, festive events and New Year celebrations, waiting until December to book a facial may not give you the results you're hoping for.
Many professional skin treatments work progressively. Some stimulate processes within the skin that take time, while others deliver their best results when completed as part of a course.
At Fixation Skincare & Laser Clinic in Millhouses, Sheffield, we always prefer to plan ahead.
Think of your Christmas skin preparation as a journey. Start with the treatments that need time to work, gradually refine your skin as December approaches, then focus on hydration and glow closer to the big day.
Here's how we'd approach an 8–12 week Christmas skin plan.
8–12 Weeks Before Christmas: Start With Your Skin Consultation
Before booking a diary full of treatments, start by understanding what your skin actually needs.
If your goal is simply more glow, your treatment plan will look very different from someone wanting to address acne scarring, pigmentation, fine lines or uneven texture.
A professional skin consultation at Fixation allows us to assess your skin, discuss your concerns and understand exactly what you're hoping to achieve.
From there, we can recommend the treatments and home skincare most appropriate for you.
This is particularly important if you're considering a course of treatments such as microneedling or chemical peels.
October might feel early to start thinking about Christmas skin.
It isn't.
8–10 Weeks Before Christmas: Begin Your Corrective Treatments
This is where we can start doing some of the heavier lifting.
If you're looking to improve the appearance of texture, acne scarring, fine lines or overall skin quality, microneedling may form part of your treatment plan.
Microneedling creates controlled micro-channels within the skin, stimulating its natural repair response and supporting collagen and elastin production.
Unlike a last-minute facial, the benefits develop progressively as the skin responds following treatment. Depending on your skin and goals, we may also recommend a course rather than a single appointment.
That's why starting early matters.
Similarly, professional chemical peels can be incorporated into a personalised treatment programme to target concerns such as dullness, congestion, uneven skin tone, pigmentation and texture.
The exact treatment, strength and frequency will always depend on your skin.
Christmas skin isn't about doing every treatment possible.
It's about choosing the right treatments and giving them enough time to work.
6–8 Weeks Before Christmas: Build on Your Results
By this stage, your Christmas calendar is probably starting to fill up — but your skin journey is already underway.
Depending on the treatment plan created for you, this may be the point where you continue with the next treatment in your recommended course.
For some clients, that could mean another microneedling appointment. For others, it might involve a professional peel or facial treatment.
We can also review how your skin is responding and make adjustments where needed.
This is one of the advantages of starting early: we aren't rushing your skin.
Rather than trying to achieve everything in one appointment, we can gradually work towards healthier-looking skin while allowing appropriate time between treatments.
4–6 Weeks Before Christmas: Refine, Hydrate and Maintain
As Christmas gets closer, the focus can begin to shift.
If we've already been working on more corrective concerns, this stage is about continuing your plan while beginning to think more about hydration, skin quality and maintaining your results.
Your home skincare routine becomes particularly important here too.
As the Sheffield weather gets colder and central heating goes on, you may notice your skin becoming drier, tighter or more sensitive.
This may mean adjusting your cleanser, increasing hydration or introducing more barrier-supportive products.
It doesn't necessarily mean adding more active ingredients.
At Fixation, we work with professional skincare brands including DermaQuest, ZO Skin Health, NOON Aesthetics, Heliocare and Biretix, so we can help you build a routine that complements your professional treatments rather than working against them.
2–4 Weeks Before Christmas: Think Glow, Not Overhaul
Now we're entering the festive countdown.
At this stage, we generally don't want to suddenly introduce lots of new products or treatments that your skin has never experienced before.
Instead, the focus should be on keeping your complexion looking hydrated, fresh and healthy.
Depending on your skin, this may be a good time for one of our professional facial treatments.
Our facials can incorporate treatments such as dermaplaning, microdermabrasion and oxygen, with your therapist recommending the most appropriate option for your skin.
Dermaplaning, for example, can help remove dead skin cells and fine vellus hair from the surface of the skin, leaving the complexion looking smoother and creating a beautiful base for makeup.
But again, what works for your friend's skin isn't automatically what your skin needs.
Your therapist will guide you.
The Final Week: Keep It Simple
Christmas week isn't the time for experimentation.
If your skin is looking good and feeling balanced, don't start throwing new products at it.
Keep your routine consistent, focus on hydration, continue wearing your SPF and avoid suddenly increasing your use of active ingredients in an attempt to get even better results.
If you're booking a final pre-Christmas facial, choose something that your skin is already familiar with or that has been professionally recommended for you.
This is about maintaining the work you've already done, not starting from scratch.

What If You're Starting Later?
Don't panic.
You don't need 12 weeks to do something beneficial for your skin.
If you're reading this in November or even December, our team can still recommend treatments and skincare appropriate for the time you have available.
What we won't do is squeeze an unsuitable treatment into your diary simply because Christmas is approaching.
Sometimes the best option may be a professional facial and a few strategic changes to your skincare routine.
Other concerns may be better treated as part of a longer-term plan extending into the New Year.
Good skin isn't just for Christmas.
Don't Forget Your Home Skincare
Professional treatments are only one part of your Christmas skin plan.
What you're doing to your skin every morning and evening matters too.
Using the correct cleanser, hydration, moisturiser, targeted products and daily SPF can help support your skin throughout your treatment journey.
If you've accumulated multiple serums and actives but aren't quite sure what order to use them in or whether you should be using them at all, bring your current routine to your consultation.
Sometimes we need to add something.
Sometimes we need to take something away.
